Notice For Everyone

Hello everyone,

Mudkip here with an important announcement. The site will be on strike, so if you’re viewing a page that’s blacked-out, then it’s on strike, and will remain that way for 12 hours. (8 AM to 8 PM EST)

Why am I doing this? Simple answer, really. SOPA is a bill that threatens the internet. Let’s say you upload a video about cheats, tutorials, ect. about a video game you bought. If this bill passes, then technically you’re breaking the law. This also applies to me as ROM are copyrighted. As for now, just hope for the best.

For more information about the matter, please visit SOPAstrike.com

Edit: My apology. I made this post rather late, so the black-out is out of effect now. The ribbon, however, will remain until the 24th,

  1. Good! I’m glad that you’re on strike. This bill is pushing it a bit to far, and even Google is trying to make sure it doesn’t get passed. I’m really hopping it doesn’t, because imagining just how MANY sites will be shut down, is ridiculous!

  2. I entirely agree with you. This SOPA, or “Protect IP Act” as I prefer to call it, is simply a further example that not even the US government understands the Internet. Indeed, the fact that it is being considered at all, and that sites even have to have blackouts in the first place, ought to be warning signs that we should move to London or something as fast as possible before it’s too late. If this bill is passed, YouTube will be shut down almost immediately, due to the sheer number of video game-related videos. Google won’t want to lose it, so they’ll pour money into its defense… only to find their own site will be attacked viciously and they’ll have no funds to support it. They’ll probably plead a mass donation of sorts, leading to people’s money being stretched even more thin than it is already. In effect, Congress is pushing to make the economy even worse. Without sites such as Google, YouTube, Wikipedia, and Megavideo, people’s very lives will be disrupted, leading them to hate and mistrust the government even more than they do already. Not to mention the jeopardy that people such as me and you will find ourselves in, because we both use ROMs and the like, and now I’ll have no way of acquiring a backup of any of my games, and you won’t be able to continue with ROM modding. I hope that people are starting to realize the seriousness of the situation, because this thing only lost by three votes in the last debate, and it doesn’t look like anyone working for it is giving up soon. I wholeheartedly give my support to your blackout efforts, and those of many other sites at risk of being shut down. Thank you for working to keep our country free and fun.
